E-file your taxes for free
Want to file your taxes via the web? There are options for both federal and state taxes.
The Federal Free File program is available to taxpayers who earned $56,000 or less adjusted gross income in 2008. Taxpayers can select their own company from the list of Free File providers or gain assistance to select a company. Among the companies listed are H & R Block and TurboTax.
The Indiana Department of Revenue I-File program is a straightforward online tax preparation and e-filing service. To use I–File, you must:
• have filed an individual income–tax return previously with the State of Indiana
• have the same legal name that you used last year to file your taxes with the State of Indiana
Please note: The library does not endorse any tax preparation software and is not responsible for any part or result of tax preparation online. Please remember that the library’s computer network is open and unsecure, and patrons using it to prepare their taxes online do so at their own risk.

Blu-Ray DVDs at the Main Library
The Art, Music & Media department of the Main Library has added a collection of Blu-Ray DVDs. Currently about 50 titles are available, with 50 more to come. Click here to view the list.
Our Dupont Branch also carries Blu-Ray DVDs. These high definition video discs will only play on Blu-Ray DVD players or Playstation 3 consoles. We hope those able to use Blu-Ray DVDs will take advantage of our new collection. All titles are feature films and check out for 3 days, with one-time renewal and $1 per day late fines. No holds are allowed on these 3-day loan DVDs.

It’s that time of year–Tax Help sessions at the Library and elsewhere
Once again, volunteers will be at many of our library locations offering tax help and e-filing. Check out the schedule at http://www.acpl.lib.in.us/bus/taxes.html.
In addition, the Community Center at 233 W. Main Street, 427-6460, is currently offering tax help to anyone 55 and older. Their hours are 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, Monday through Friday, until April 15.
Finally, United Way is also organizing free EITC tax help sessions at CANI, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and Euell Wilson Community Center. Read more about whether you qualify for the EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit) and when each location offers help at http://www.unitedwayallencounty.org/sites/default/files/file/EITCflierENG.pdf.
